Bakla’s Affair with…
We’re coming clean now. Bakla may seem to project a very straightforward and prudent (prudent daw?) image here, but we’re coming clean now. Baklang AJ is sinful.
This week, he had himself involved in an illicit yet heart-warming, dark yet evil, and sinful but oh-so-delicious affair with…
Mrs. Fields. Thanks to Jayvee and the blogandsoul blog, we got to crash the launch party of Mrs. Fields Cookie Cafe at Manila Pavillion (United Nations Ave., Manila). Cookies, Cookie Cups, Cookie Cakes, Gelato, and Coffee! Anyone in their right mind would not let an opportunity like that to just pass them by, right — even if it meant waking up at the wee hours (5PM MNL time) of the morning (think 4AM US CDT). Bakla did not let Mrs. Fields relaunch her cookie brand and launch her second cookie cafe (the first is now open @Trinoma, the second to open on September 1st.) without him checking her out.
We learned that Mrs. Fields has been in the country for 12 years now (we used to see them as just kiosks inside malls) and has been in existence in the United States since 1977. Wow! She’s way older than we are! The Cookie Cafe is a pretty promising hangout. What with the coffee and the cookies and other sinful goodies (oh how we love the Peanut Butter Cream Tart!)?

And hangout we did. We got to work a little later than normal that night as Mrs. Fields had her own little way (pretty red seats) of making us stay. Those seats and of course, members of the blogging community. We had fun hanging out, chatting and feasting on cookies with well, a lot of bloggers (dare we name drop?, uhm ok!) including Juned, SexyMom Dine, Angelic Mom Noemi, uber-cool Lauren, PinoyBlogero Karlo, Misteryosang Shari, Coy of Cokskiblue, Benj, Photographer Extraordinaire Luis, the Fantabulous Aileen, fashionista Sasha, fool for five-r Rico (there, got it right this time!), Magician cum Mentalist Marcelle, and a whole lot more!
This affair with Mrs. Fields surely will not be a short-lived one. We loved her before, and we hope this af fair will last long. Hmm… Manila Pavillion = Casino. Cookies and Coffee before and after sluts the slot machines eh? Kaching!

And if you wanna get involved in the local blogging community, you might wanna check out the Blog and Soul movement.
