Contrary to this one person’s belief (this person has continually and relentlessly accused us of using this blog to hook up with men), we don’t.  And this may come as a shock to that person but Bakla gives out a business card whenever he attends events.  And we’re pretty sure that this person, whose mouth is probably bigger than a venus flytrap’s, if he ever gets hold of our business card will use it as an “evidence” to prove their claim. Oh great!

A business card is obviously used for business. And why do you reckon a blogger has to have a business card? Well for one, you can use it to win prizes in raffles.  It is also a way for people (bloggers, marketing and advertising groups), magazines, media, etc. to get in touch with you should they need to transact business with you.  No hanky panky, of course.

In Bakla’s experience working for different industries (the meedia, the music industry, local theater, FM radio, PR, communications,  glossy magazines, artist management), a business card can take you a long way.

Armed with this information and experience, Bakla decided to come up with a Blogger Business Card when he started attending blogging events. He did not have enough time in his hands to actually have one produced and printed for him so he decided to just print “cards” on colored paper.  It worked for a while, but it got too embarrassing for him to actually hand out “business papers” to esteemed personalities.

Then he decided to move to the next step and produce photo-cards (idea copied from many people, notable of them is photographer extraordinaire Luis. Of course we don’t have the patience to look for the place where he had them printed (not sure if it was P2.00/card, minimum of 100 cards or something like that), so we produced ours in our own little way.  Here’s a step-by-step guide:

1. Create a 2″ x 3.5″ card (images+text) on Photoshop/Paint
2. Copy the design onto a 10×10 or 8×10(inches) canvas/image.
3. Lay them out in such a way as to maximize the use of space.
4. Print them on photo paper. (If you don’t have a printer at home, proceed to step 6)
5. Cut them out carefully along the sides to make them look like real business cards.
6. If you do not have a printer at home or if you don’t have photo paper ready, simply save your file (preferably as JPG or PNG) onto a USB flash drive, a memory card, or even your cellphone’s memory card.
7. Go to the nearest Photo-developing center. Have them printed and cut.
8. Voila! Business Cards!

We spent about P75.00 for a silk finish 10×10 which fits 16 cards. So that makes it about P4.50 per card. Uhm, I think we should just go to that DPI place next time.
