We’re Back-la and We’re PayPerPost-ing!

August 15th, 2007

So Bakla’s hiatus this time, like all his other hiatuses (hiati?), was short-lived. Well, we promised that he was gonna be on a short break. And short it was. Bakla is still in recovery after the incident last Monday that shook his mind, body, and soul.

And now that Bakla has returned (yet again!), we will continue with living our gay lives and going to the depths of the earth to bring you more stuff! And to kick off this grand return, we will be introducing a new segment (or category) of this blog which will discuss and review other blog entries, products, establishments and anything and everything under the sun, for as long as it’s an open opportunity.

Open what? We’re quite sure that some of you are already familiar with payperpost. Yes, we bit the dust and will start payperpost-ing. You see, payperpost is one opportunity we wouldn’t wanna pass off. Initially, we put up this blog to educate and help other gay men with their issues, share insights, knowledge and ideas with them, as well as educating the general public about the gay life here in the Philippines and around the world. However, this comes with a price. We here at Baklaako.com do not really mind paying for that price, but looking at it from a practical point of view, payperpost and other opportunities like it surely does help foot the bill. What with the skyrocketing financial charges of credit cards? It sure does help to have something like payperpost help us pay for our hosting (as well as the hosting of MyJournal.ph) fees, and the Internet connection and electricity bills.

What made us go and sign up for PayPerPost is the endless possibilities when it comes to earning some extra dough. You have multitudes of earning opportunities. You can review other blog posts, refer other bloggers, promote plug-ins for Firefox, refer advertisers, do some blog marketing, or receive direct offers from advertisers for you to write about their products and services. We’ve heard many success stories from our friends who have used PayPerPost and we’re definitely going for it!

One blog review can help Bakla pay for his hosting as well as the hosting of everything and everyone on MyJournal (yes, we’re paying for that too!). So why not blog and earn at the same time, right?

In Trauma, Short Break

August 8th, 2007

Bakla will be taking a short break as he is currently in trauma (hopefully not something like Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) after his home was robbed and his laptop and wallet were taken away. The laptop was recovered (but still in police custody), the suspect already in jail, the complaint/case already filed. The wallet and all the IDs, credit cards, ATMs and other incidentals are still missing.

Imagine catching the robber in the act, and him screaming at you to scare you before he runs away… Imagine that scene playing over and over again in your head. Imagine talking with the suspect face-to-face and casually… Imagine staying up for 24 hours just to finish all the processing and filing of a formal and legal complaint. Imagine having to go back to a place you thought was safe…

This is the reason for yet another hiatus from Bakla.

Growing Older is Mandatory, Growing Up is Optional

August 4th, 2007

I have never been put this low in my life.  I have never had my integrity and dignity trampled on by anyone until recently.  What would you do if someone you cared about conveniently and proactively accused you of things way beyond your mind can imagine? I can never and will never put up with people who trample upon my integrity all because of illogical, narrow-minded, blindsided, pre-conceived biases and notions of the single Filipino guy.

Why I Blog
If you have been reading this and my other blog, you would know by now that I blog because it is a passion.  There are millions of blogs and millions of bloggers out there, and all these bloggers have different reasons for doing what they do, for writing what they write.  Some people put up blogs because they want to earn, some because their jobs entail them to, some because they wanna exchange ideas and knowledge with other people, and others because they wanna vent out their innermost thoughts and emotions.   There are many million reasons why these millions of bloggers blog.

I blog because it is my passion.  Sure there’s a little extra earnings from my blogs (except livejournal), but that isn’t why I blog.  Of course there’s fame, recognition and a sense of acceptance.  But never did it cross my mind that blogging is an avenue for me to advertise myself and hook-up with random men online.  There are other outlets for that, so why would I use my blog, right?  And besides, hookups and one-night stands are no longer my cup of Japanese Cherry tea. I would never go so low as to advertise myself and actively seek fuck buddies.  I’m way over that, been there, done that.

And if you really know me, you would know that all my pseudo-self-advertising here were written tongue-in-cheek.  You remember the entry about Bradley in my Livejournal? That one entry that got me in trouble with my mom? Well that was a fiasco and I had to deal with someone close to me and explain to them what this blogging thing I have is all about.  And gladly, they understood. Why? Because my mom is open-minded and does not judge people based on hearsay or mere perception.

It has never occured to me until recently that some people do not, will not, and cannot understand the reasons why I blog.  One thing I’m sure of is that I have never and will never use my blog to advertise myself searching for fuckables.

Single Gay Filipino
There are many misconceptions about Filipinos, Gay men, Gay Filipino men, and Single Gay Filipino Men. I am one of them but that does not make me a whore; that doesn’t make any of us whores.  Some people think that gay Filipinos are promiscuous.  I’m sure I’m speaking in behalf of many gay Filipinos here that this accusation is utterly untrue.

Just because I’m single, gay, Filipino and live alone, that doesn’t mean that I am a whore and I go around hopping from one guy’s bed to another’s.  I won’t act naive and virginal, but yes, I was like that before.  I have gone through that phase.  Been there, done that.

I live alone in a rented condo, but that doesn’t mean I bring guys home and fuck with them there. If you know me really well, you would know that I’m currently a member of the Celibacy Association of the Philippines. And yes, if you know me closely, you would know how many men I have brought to my home  -  if there were any.

Just because we are single, gay, and Filipinos, it doesn’t mean that we are whores or players.

Is He “A Gay”?

August 4th, 2007

Some straight people (and closet homosexuals as well) find it awkward and sometimes difficult to deal with gay men.  The gay men we are talking about are those who are quite discreet and straight-acting (misnomer-ed as “bi” here in the Philippines). So what do you do if you suspect one of your colleagues, officemates, neighbors, family members, or classmates to be gay?  We’ll list down some tips for you.

faceoff.jpg

Being gay in this society may now seem to be like a walk in the park, but believe me, it isn’t. Of course some of you know that there are different kinds of gay men like there are different kinds of straight men and straight women.  If you didn’t know that, then do some research, please? Kidding aside, it is true that there are different kinds of gay men, and in this entry, we will be referring to the discreet-slash-closeted-slash-bi-slash-in-denial-slash-straight-acting gay dude. In other words, yung hindi halata.

Bakla is Migrating

August 3rd, 2007

In English:

To all those with whom we have had great Bakla moments over at our former home MyJournal (still Filipino-owned and operated, and Bakla is one of the “owners”), we would like to thank you for your unending and unconditional support to our aims, goals and all gayness!  We are opening a new page here in our Internet life and will be migrating to a new home (server ata?).

What does this mean to you our beloved friends and readers and visitors? Nothing much really.  We only wish and hope for your continued patronage for this site. And if possible (only if it is) and hopefully it’s not too much to ask and hopefully we re not imposing too much on your time, you could update your links from http://baklaako.myjournal.ph to http://baklaako.com

 http://baklaako.com

This is our new home. Please, pretty puh-lease update your links. Lol. Thank you very much.

Domo arigatou gozaimashita, mina-san!

 http://baklaako.com

Ito na po ang aming bagong tahanan. Parang-awa niyo na, pakiupdate naman ng links! Hehehehe. Maraming Salamat!

Bakla and the Emerging Influential Blogs Meet-up and Awarding

August 2nd, 2007

Bakla would like to congratulate all those who made it to the Top 10 list!  And of course, we’d like to tip our hats off to Janette Toral for organizing such a successful event and contest.

It was one heck of a bloggers’ event as Pinoy Bloggers from different genres, niches, and demographics gathered to exchange (links?) ideas, stories, tips and what-have-yous.  Of course, there was the usual self-introduction and blog self-promotion . Hey, some people, errm I myself actually, went on to do shameless pluggings!  And the good thing about that was no one really cared how shameless your plug was, it is after all, a “sharing” event.  Davah? And since this happened way beyond Baklang AJ’s waking hours, just imagine how he did with the plugging.

And again, it was great to have met some of the greatest greats in the blogging community, to wit: emergingbadgejpg.jpgthe fabulous Google Superstar Aileen Apolo, Beautiful Moms Noemi and Dine (both of whom made me miss my own Mom more!), billiards hotshot AnitoKid, King of Baratillos Juned, Regalo magnate Reggie, PinoyBlogero, Lionheart, Penny, Jomar of the TravelJournal, the ever-so-glowing doctor Tess, the Misteryosa Shari, mentalist Marcelle, the $210.12-boy Jehzlau, Novice Blogger, Rick of ProjectManila, Benj the Atheista boy, Ederic and a whole lot more! (Bakla was not yet in his good senses so he couldn’t remember everyone, due apologies!)

It was indeed a fun night! Till the next meet up!

Here’s the complete list of winners:
