National Coming Out Day

The National Coming Out Day is celebrated every 11th of the month of October (in the United States). Even if you’re outside the US, you can celebrate this day with the rest of the world! If you’re still in the closet and want to come out, October 11th would be one of the best days to do it!

If you can’t do it on the 11th, do it some other time then, on your own terms. If you’re in the closet and don’t wanna come out, we will respect that and we won’t force you out of that closet. At the end of the day, it’s still about what makes you happy. If you’re happy and gay and you know it and want the world to know about it, come out, come out!

What if you wanna come out and don’t know how to do it? There are some tips over at the Human Rights Campaign website. You can also view videos of many gays and lesbians share their insights and stories on coming out on YouTube.

How ’bout you, What’s your coming out story?

OMG i remember i was in UC Riverside in 1999 and my friend Bjay and I ‘came out’ of this big door they had during National Coming Out day. talk about symbolism. liberating!

my actual coming out earlier that year was happier albeit less glamorous. it was, however, a lot more liberating

  3. to those who are still in the closet, sana huwag kayong matakot at mag-alangang lumabas, dahil karapatan ninyong pumili ng mamahalin nyo sa inyong buhay!

I didn’t real need so much “outing”

It was more of “coming to terms” with myself.

Tama! How can we expect to have laws passed to protect our rights we no one fights for it no?

Pero I guess, at the end of the day, it’s all about what makes them happy. :)

That’s a good start, methinks. Coming to terms with one’s sexuality is something which many of our dear friends out there need to do. It may be very difficult to do but once they do it, a sense of freedom will surely emanate. :)
