Is Ricky Martin Gay?

To be or not to be, that is not the question many gay men around the world are asking now. Instead, they’re asking if Ricky Martin is gay. But wait, haven’t we all been asking that same question since like, forever?
So is the Livin’ La Vida Loca star Livin’ La Vida Lola?
In latest and recent developments to this elusive truth, Latino Ricky Martin may have been inadvertently outed by a Hollywood skin care guru named Ole Henriksen. Ricky Martin is a client of Ole Henriksen. Henriksen must have broken the client confidentiality agreement when he answered a question posed by Ted Casablanca of E!
Casablanca asked Henriksen who, aside from his partner, he’d take with him on a romantic getaway. Henriksen replied:
“I’d go for Stig Tøfting [former Danish soccer player], but since he’s straight, I’d say my client Ricky Martin.”
We do not know Henriksen personally but we’re quite sure that his response was not caused by faulty logic: If he can’t be romantically involved with a straight man (Tøfting), and he opts for Ricky Martin, then it makes sense that he’s insinuating that Ricky Martin is gay and not straight.
Furthermore, in an interview with gay Swedish magazine Salonk, Henriksen had this to say about the Latino hearththrob:
“He (Martin) is a bit more open about it (his homosexuality) these days than he used to be… I don’t know if he has a boyfriend,â€Â
We can surmise that this statement might refer to Ricky Martin’s statement months ago defending Mexican gay musician Christian Chavez:
“Life is too short to live closed up, guarding what you say.†“Christian (referring to Mexican band RBD member Christian Chavez, who recently came out of the closet) has to be free in many aspects. I wish him much strength.â€Â
So what do get from the knowledge that Livin’ La Vida Loca is Livin La Vida Lola? Nothing really. It just reminds me of Globe’s GenTxt slogan: R U 1 Of Us?
Is it a big deal if he’s one of us?
