Pinoy Big Brother Former Housemate Uma Khouny Denies Gay Rumors Anew

Pinoy Big Brother ex-housemate Uma Khouny has long been rumored to be gay. Not that there’s something wrong about being gay. Duh? Like the title of this blog asks, “Bakla Ako, May Reklamo?” [I'm gay, got a problem with that?], If Uma is indeed gay, should we take it against him? I highly doubt it. Our sexual orientation should be something we should be proud of.Of course we need not brandish our homosexuality to the whole world. It’s our choice to be out or in the closet. And yes, if Uma is indeed gay, it is his choice to stay inside the closet. But he says he’s straight so let’s leave it at that. A newbie to the local entertainment industry, chances of him committing career suicide by coming out are high - or so he thinks. This is the part where I namedrop the likes of Rustom Padilla, Hollywood celebs Lance Bass of NSync, TR Knight of Grey’s Anatomy, and Neil Patrick Harris of How I Met Your Mother (but shot up to fame with Doogie Houser, MD). For most of them, ever since they came out (or were forcibly outed), their careers have shot up.
I think it’s the latest trend in the entertainment industry around the world today - seemingly and questionably straight actors and celebrities have come out of the closet. In ultra-conservative Mexico, pop star Christian Chavez, has recently broken the gay taboo with his coming out of the closet. And in more recent news, Australian Idol runner-up Anthony Callea has been accidentally outed on a Sydney radio. Nothing wrong with being gay and working for the entertainment industry right? I highly doubt that coming out of the closet is tantamount to committing professional career hara-kiri.
Now back to Uma. In an interview with PEP, Uma denied (as he continuously have) the rumours about his sexuality and more importantly, the rumors about him and TV host Paolo Ballesteros HHWWIA (Holding Hands While Walking Into Apartelle). As uma said, these rumors are “Ka-Cheapan, Ka-Cheapan, Ka-Cheapan.” He follows it up with: “Hello! I mean, magkahawak-kamay, parang OA na diba? Katangahan na yon eh! Maghahawak-kamay sa Makati Avenue pa, of all places, di ba?” [It's so cheap. Hello! I mean, holding hands? That's Overacting. It's stupidity - holding hands along Makati Avenue of all places, right?]
I will leave the interpretation of these statements to you. Many people have claimed to have seen Uma partying inside Bed bar, one of the hottest gay clubs in Metro Manila, prior to his joining PBB. Others have claimed to have seen videos and photos of Uma doing un-straightly acts with other men. And even on Mo Twister’s Good Times with Mo on Magic 89.9 FM, a lot of the celebrity guests on the Forbidden Questions segment have answered Uma’s name in response to the controversial if-you-could-tell-any-guy-in-showbiz-that-he’s-gay question.
If Uma says he is straight, then he is straight.
As he said in the PEP interview, “It’s their opinion, hindi ko kayang baguhin ang opinion nila,” [It's their opinion, I can't change their minds about it.].
Damn right he can’t and he won’t.
And as we prepare ourselves to lay down on our beautiful, pink beds, I’ll leave you folks with Uma’s views on the Samiolo (Sam Milby-Piolo Pascual) holding hands picture:
Ow, c’mmon! Magho-holding hands ba sila? I mean, di ko alam kung sila o hindi, pero walang bading na tanga, celebrity na maghu-holding hands sa labas kung di sila out of their whatever, di ba?” [Oh come on! Are they gonna hold hands? I mean, I don't know if they're really a couple or not, but no gay man in his right mind, no celebrity, would hold hands in public if they're not out of their whatever, right?]
