“Life is too short to live closed up, guarding what you say.” “Christian (referring to Mexican band RBD
member Christian Chavez, who recently came out of the closet) has to be free in many aspects. I wish him much strength.”
This was what Latino hottie Ricky Martin said in an interview with The Associated Press when asked about what he thought of Chavez’s coming out. Papa Ricky also felt “solidarity with Christian.” (news item here)And if you’ve been alive in this generation, you would also know that Papa Ricky’s sexuality is also being questioned. These statements of his may be interpreted by some people as implying his admission.
People will misconstrue this support and defense of gay musicians as subtle hints to his admission of his sexuality.

Oddly for me though, I don’t. No matter how I wish and hope that this Menudo alumnus is gay, I can’t directly link his support to his hinting of his sexuality. I think my experience working in the local music industry is the reason for this odd behavior of mine. You see, it’s a crazy world out there and one small (or in Chavez’s case, big) issue about your personal life can be magnified. And if you can’t save yourself, and if no one with a big name will support you, then you can watch your career go down the drain.
Gay or not, Ricky Martin is still hot!
