The Youtube Gay Kiss Video Issue

Posted by: AJ In: Video of the Gay ()

Youtube

Video-sharing site YouTube is yet again in the center of a controversy.  Many people from the gay community were outraged at the censorship of a video of two boys kissing, while thousands of videos containing homophobic content are out there.

The video in question was a short clip of two boys lip-locking to show to the world the proof of their love and affection for each other.  We haven’t seen the actual video yet, but reports say that the boys, Luke and Noah,  submitted the video to remind the world that a kiss is still just a kiss.

What caused the outrage was that YouTube, the “bastion of democracy,”  allows and does not censor videos of teenagers calling gay bloggers and gay men names, to the tune of obvious irrational homophobia.

Youtube

Gay activists are now fighting, not only for YouTube to have better, more rational and equal content management and editing, but also for its “mother” company, Google, to act on this issue:

“As a parent, Google should tell its swelled-head kid to play fair and just,” Francis adds about YouTube. “They should tell YouTube to be empathic and sympathetic toward others. While we applaud YouTube for publishing millions of videos 24/7, we were also distressed to note the absence of common courtesy and the lack of respect for gay teenagers and the LGBT community in YouTube’s part.

YouTube goes on to defend themselves and say that they are trying their best to be fair to everyone. And we here at Bakla Ako, May Reklamo? believe that they do try to be fair.  However, like what other members of the LGBT community worldwide, we also would like to suggest that YouTube makes a positive thing out of this incident.  We believe in YouTube’s power to influence and educate people.  Instead of censoring harmless videos like these, why don’t they start a campaign for fighting homophobia.  OR something like that.  They’re pretty much smart people, so we’re sure that they can come up with great campaigns in our quest for equality and… world peace!

Yeah I think the “Manay Po” kissing scene got cut too, we should do something about this. YouTube said other people flag it as inappropriate while on the other hand gay bashing got flag too but still no actions where done.

Many “GAY KISSING ACT” are still on YouTube.

Actually, the people from XTube are also in a tight spot right now (no pun intended)..

Apparently, the US Federal Government is proposing a new regulation called Section 2257 that would effectively shut down adult social-networking sites (of which XTube is but one). Apparently, it has something to do with stopping the proliferation of child pornography.

One of the Admins of XTube blogged about this; you can read it here.

The deadline for the submission of comments was last September 10, but I found no news as to whether it was approved or not.. (or maybe I could have searched harder).. ^_^

In any case, let’s just cross our fingers and hope that all ends well for XTube.. Some may not find XTube to be their cup of tea, but many of us find solace in knowing that there’s an alternative to hacking our way through premium sites with free passwords..

^_^

Personal lifestyle choices aside, people need to recognize the seriousness of such censorship. Regardless of personal viewpoints, the censoring of things such as a kiss, whether heterosexual or not is not graphic nor suggestive. Without seeing the nature of this video firsthand I can not wholeheartidly refute YouTube’s decision. If it was as innocent as what this blogger expressed, then YouTube should be focusing on more serious issues and more offensive submissions to their website.

The Internet should show what gay is not just for the kissing scenes gay kissing doesn’t mean your gay, if your gay then it’s something to do with your Genes not the Jeans you wear.

You may have had developed gayness from birth without realising you are until your much older in your youth years and when you start kissing lads of your own age and bunny hopping then you may begin wonder that you are gay or unsure.

If your not kissing lads of your own age and bunny hopping and have girlfriends then your not gay or could be that those lads going out with girls could be gay they might just find it hard to express themselves clearly cause of been afraid of neglect rejection and abuse by others for been gay or finding out your Gay.

There’s nothing to worry about been Gay if your Gay. You Tube shouldn’t be introuble for showing gay kissing that went on beyond censorship cause it’s the guys that kiss that want it shown all over the world for everyone to see that has the Internet.

That they don’t mind be watched by those who are straight or gay.

There’s more things to worry about than Gay relationships been shown on the Internet. It ain’t a crime to be like that when gay. Perfectly normal and more healthy than violence been taughed by teachings of it and War on the Internet.

Just cause I’m talking about doesn’t mean I’m gay.

It isn’t encouranging people to be gay. If your gay then you either got have been born gay from the start when your a baby you won’t know things like that until your older then gayness in you develops later if you believe your self to be gay or lesbian even.

I’m on You Tube’s side and those that show themselves been gay and going for it when together that is a brave person individuals who do that. It takes a lot of guts and bravery to show the world your gay without a care in the world on the Internet.

Their not criminals.

Those that throw things at them in riots over gays in street Wars about it from the Police and Army and at those gays in the past or present or in the future are criminals for doing that to gays.

War killings stealing attempted murder and playing God is a crime.

NOT gays nor lesbians kissing.

It’s not written down as against the law for gays and lesbians to do that nor to go out with each other. It’s accepted in London UK.

If your against it then ignore it and don’t interfear with them don’t be childish over it like little kids and teenagers at School when your against it. It’s perfectly fine by me.

I agree with childpornnography been shut down on the Internet under 2257 section, they shouldn’t allow little ones to show themselves doing that on the Internet. No need to shut the whole site down, don’t spoil it for others. Over 18’s doing that should be allowed cause their adults and more mature some of them and learnt about it by then hopefully if they want to do that if their like that anyway.

If You Tube and My Space are doing that then they don’t know the law that they shouldn’t allow to show little ones doing that on You Tube nor neither on any other sites. If they see it’s a little one doing that on the Internet then they should take it off immediately. At that age they don’t know things like that is against the law it’s not their fault when their little ones that they don’t know that cause they don’t get taught it. When I was a kid I never got taught about that kind of thing cause your too young to understand it when your kid. Know what it’s like I never understood the adult world why they was like that as adults are back then when I was kid.
Just tell them to take little ones doing that off the Internet cause they won’t know until they process the Video Clip through then take it off it if is is a little one.
Parents should have more responsibility over their little ones using the Internet with Webcams. It shows that those parents aren’t responsible for them when left with Webcams and Internet. In fact parents shouldn’t allow little ones to go on the Internet until their at age when they know how to get around it and 18 or over. Maybe 16 year olds can too cause now the age of 16 that’s an adult age these days. Anyway that’s up to the site owners and the ones who make the law up.
