Bakla Ako, May Reklamo?

We interrupt regular programming to share this very important announcement to all UP Mindanao graduates. As part of the UP System’s Centennial Celebration, UP Mindanao Alumni are invited to take part in the upcoming UP Mindanao Alumni Homecoming.

On February 22, 2008, ALL Alumni of UP Mindanao shall gather at the ATRIUM of UP Mindanao, Mintal, Davao City from 3 pm to late in the evening. The Alumni Homecoming is scheduled on such date because it is UP Mindanao’s Foundation week and it is timely also to celebrate the 100th year of the University of the Philippines.

One of the objectives of the homecoming is to gather the alumni of UP Mindanao, and rekindle the relationship of the Alumni to its home unit, UP Mindanao. The event shall present updates on UP Mindanao. Now through this event, the Alumni is challenged to raise funds, as well, for various Centennial Projects of UP Mindanao and the UP System itself.

The recent fundraising activity where UP Mindanao Alumni can actively involve in is pooling resources for fulfillment of the UP Mindanao Oblation Park, in improving further the Oblation landmark of UP Mindanao [read: Project "Enshrine the UP Mindanao Oblation']. The UP Mindanao Alumni is challenged to help the UPAA-Davao Chapter in raising funds. It may not come from your own pockets, but it is highly appreciated if you have networks that can contribute to the construction of the park. Another way of raising funds is by batch, by course, or by year finished at UP Mindanao. Every effort, big or smallest is highly appreciated here.

Another issue that confronts the UP System is the 300% increase of tuition fee of the incoming freshmen to UP. Now, this new policy of the system limits the opportunity of those youth who can’t afford enough a UP education but is talented/brilliant to experience UP education. As an Alumni, we can help raise funds for scholarships intended for incoming freshmen. Let us focus our assistance to the incoming students of UP Mindanao. Again, it may not come from your own pocket, but is highly appreciated if you can find people or organization/s who can contribute to this scholarship facility.

Hopefully, these event shall strengthen our relationship with UP Mindanao as our alma mater, with our fellow Alumni, and to serving our country. Coming to this event is also a sign of gratitude of what has UP provided us and led us to where we are now.
