After Danny Noriega’s elimination from American Idol Season 7, the gay community may have lost a teeny bit of interest on the show. Who will reprizant yo? David Hernandez, whose image was scandalized because of photos of him working as a stripper for a gay club, was going to be the contest’s remaining gay icon. But sadly, he too was eliminated.
This brings us to the numerous discussions online that America may not be ready yet for a gay American Idol. Or are they really? Many of our gay friends have now turned their attention on this other boy in the contest – David Archuleta.
David is the current favorite to win the show, we all know that. And if he does, then many gay men, like I, will be very happy. This 17-yeard old boy has become a favorite because of his great vocal prowess and probably because even if he has had vocal chord paralysis, he still sings that well!
Online discussions and forums have been talking about David not only because of his singing prowess but also because of his perceived sexuality. Many people think that David Archuleta is gay, many don’t. And some people argue that David just appears to be gay because of his youth. We do not know if he’s gay or not, really. And it really does not matter.
So is he really? I cannot answer that question for you. Instead, I will give you some information that may help you answer this age-old idol-favorite question: Is David Archuleta Gay? (Decide after the jump.)
1. STAR SEARCH
We all know that Archulletes (I like calling him that) used to be a contestant on Star Search, as a very young boy. Below is a video of one of his performances in the contest. You might also be interested in his bio on the show, which we got from CBS:

The then-12-year old Archuleta emerged as the New Junior Singer and took home $100,000. He beat a twelve-year old girl named Molly Bouchard (I wonder where she is now) by getting perfect a perfect score from all five judges.

What the heck? What kind of people are you? Judging a person and saying that he’s gay? My god! What kind of people are you! He’s just a kid who dosen’t have a girlfriend and is NOT read yet to have a girlfriend. And it dosen’t mean that if he is singing GIRL songs means he’s gay, when your a professional singer you can sing a GIRL or BOY song in a contest or anywhere. don’t play God that you know things pretty well. Your eyes, your brain, your feelings aren’t special enough to make you different form others, so it means you can be wrong by saying he is gay. or even think he is gay.
Its one thing many people are not getting, how he lived for music, how game he is when it comes to singing. A lot of people look gay when they enjoy doing something. When they are having fun and just let go of themselves, but that doesn’t make them any gay, not even close.
Making prejudice about people, about them being gay or not, is really such a gay thing to do.

this guy isn’t PLAYING GOD. he’s making an observation, for goodness sake. this kid has the typical, “stereotypical” qualities of a “gay” male. no one ever said that this was accurate, but it’s typical in many gay men.
and since when is being 17 justified as a kid? we have miley fucking cyrus who’s 15, she’s in the industry, and have you seen her on stage? she uses some sex appeal here and there, and when you’re in high school — you’re no stranger to sexuality.
you act like he’s 4. he’s fucking 17, ONE YEAR AWAY FROM BEING AN ADULT. just because you’re 50 and are insistent on keeping the next American Idol from influencing your kids into turning gay (which is impossible) doesn’t mean it’s going to stop him from being the way he is.
gay or not, david archuleta has the qualities of an american idol, and if that includes being gay, DEAL WITH IT.

I’m so glad David’s gay, not so happy that he’s in “closet”.
He’s even not str8 acting.
He’s mellow, he sighs on every compliment, he turns he’s eyes and rolls them up a bit like a true lady.

I don’t think he’s gay. People just misjudge him because of his mannerisms and body movements. But those are merely reflections of his innocence. And he does not pretend to be innocent.. he is..it is in his nature and upbringing. His entire family are Mormons… followers of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints… you may research about the religion on the internet to find out what their beliefs, traditions and practices are and you will realize that David is genuinely real. He is as you see him. And perhaps you will also learn to understand why he acts and speaks the way he does. Research and read about Mormons, it may help you understand and know David more. Some of you might end up being ashamed to learn that there are still a community that preserves purity and humanity, after all the things said here.

very interesting indeed, and I too am a believer of his true sexuality which appears to be covered up because of his newfound status. This Phillip Daggett person seems to be a pretty good suspect of being involved with David. I seen the link mentioned above and they are discussing on there that David is actually in Boston right now and that Phillip is having some kind of plastic surgery done at a hospital in Boston and people are hoping that they will both be there or in Boston together. Sounds like a $ nice & pricey $ photo-op to me!

i love him, and i don’t care if hes gay or not. sometimes, he seems REALLY, REALLY gay. other times he doesn’t. so i just don’t know. what i do know, is that whether hes gay or not, he wont be coming out anytime soon. so we should all just leave it alone. hes a great kid and a great singer. gay is completely irrelevant to me.
