Kadin: The Goat
After that my second film “KADIN” (The Goat) will be exclusively screening at IndieSine Robinson’s Galleria from April 9-15.
Hope you can promote it in your site. It’s the first full length film shot entirely in Batanes starring non-actors from Basco and we used their native dialect. Plus we’re screening it in 35mm (film format) for the first time.
From the director of Daybreak comes another Indie Film that will surely break through barriers in the local film industry. On April 9 to 15, Adolf Alix Jr.’s Kadin will be showing at Robinsons Galleria IndieSine.
One day, Peping wakes up to find out that their goat, Gima, is missing is the main source of livelihood of his family. Peping hides this ordeal from his grandmother and vows to find the goat as soon as he can since his father is coming back home the next day. So off Peping goes, with his sister Lita, to search for Gima in the beautiful landscape of Sabtang, Batanes. A series of frustrating episodes mark the day, tension and desperation growing as natural and human forces conspire to frustrate them at every turn. The odyssey teaches the boy about the true meaning of life- where kindness and cruelty can be found in close proximity.
Kadin is an official selection at the 27th Amiens International Film Festival (France), Official Selection - Ici et ailleurs, 60th Locarno International Film Festival. At the 3rd Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival, Kadin bagged Best Cinematography and Best Musical Score.
Recently, The Philippine International Media & Film Association, The Arts Factor in Los Angeles and Manila, and The Indie Houses of the Philippines, released a list of 2007’s best Filipino independent films and directors to watch out for and Kadin tookthe top spot!
Kadin was filmed in the native tongue of the Sabtang people – Isabtangen – with English subtitles. Director Adolf Alix points out that this is the first full-length film shot entirely in Batanes starring non-actors from Basco, Batanes. Another interesting fact about this film is that it will be screened (for the first time) in 35mm or film format!
Watch out for it on April 9 to 15 at Robinsons IndieSine (Robinsons Galleria, Ortigas Center).
This is a scheduled post. Baklang AJ is currently hiking at Mt. Daguldul in Batangas, thanks to the wonderful people of Columbia Sportswear! Regular Bakla Programming will resume on Sunday.
