When I was a young boy, I was so scared of trannies. I don’t know why but I really was. However, over the years, I have learned to understand them in the same why that I understand my sexuality. And now, I don’t just understand them, I appreciate them and am proud of them.
One of the reasons why I’m proud of them is gay beauty pageants. It is quite sad that many people automatically think of question and answer boo-boos whenever the term “gay beauty pageant” is mentioned. However, what I’ve noticed is that our transsexual and/transvestite sistahs who join beauty pageants are getting more and more intelligent. All the more reason to be proud of the T in LGBT!

George, one of our readers from England, asked us if we were gonna cover the Miss Gay Philippines 2008 pageant. Ironically, I did not anything about the pageant had George not sent me an email about it. So I did some research online but most of the search results pointed to websites of gay beauty pageant boo-boos.
Apparently, the contest Miss Gay Philippines is on its 29th year already. There is very little information that we can find on the web about it. I tried emailing my friends and contacts for more information, to no avail. So whoever has more information about Miss Gay Philippines (not to be mistaken with Miss Amazing Philippines), please do send us more information. All I know about it (from watching the videos below) is that fashion designer Eddie Badeo was Miss Gay Philippines International in 1988.

(Watch out for the contestant from Batanes - around 4:01/-04:25!)
George likewise sent us some links to videos covering the Miss Gay Philippines 2008 pageant. It was held last March 31, 2008 at the Music Museum in Greenhills, San Juan. Enjoy the videos below.
If any of you know where to purchase DVD or VCD copies of the Miss Gay Philippines 2008 pageant, please do tell us! Thanks! (And to George, thank you for the lead and I will do my best to continue searching for more information on this pageant for you).

It’s sad that there’s little info on the net. It would be great if you can start covering the event.
I am just so amazed how much passion they have for taking care of themselves. Inspiring for a female… Like moi (who can be really lazy)…X

hi!!! im so happy that you spent time in writing about miss gay philippines 2008.
when i was younger, i dreamed to become a beauty queen here in my country. as years go on, my dream becomes a reality. almost all over philippines provinces and even barangay fiestas and mall events that has miss gay contests, i participates!!! but there is one prestigious pageant that i never had the chance to join, for the reason that im out of the country, or prior commitments had scheduled to me.
1998 was the most significant year of mylife being a beauty title holder. it was the year when i started joining and winning pageants!!! and 2008 was the perfect time for me to join the MISS GAY PHILIPPINES quest!!! with lots of preparations and strong determination to win one of the 5 coveted titles, my efforts was crowned with success!!! i am the reigning - MISS GAY PHILIPPINES ASIA PACIFIC 2008!!!
now, i can say that im truely a beauty title holder here in the philippines!!!
very truely yours,

Sayang… Nice din daw yung Ms Gay University 2008 here in Davao City. Every one who watched told me it was even better than some televised beauty pageants (for females) kasi super career na career ang production numbers.X
