Tide is tide, just like Anna Dizon is Anna Dizon.
A lot of people have been wondering who in the world is Anna Dizon and why her name is always used in expressions to prove a point. Or should we say to prove a point without actual proof — by just saying Anna Dizon is Anna Dizon, one can already be assured that his/her statement, argument or claim is valid.
But, seriously, who is Anna Dizon?
Based on our research, Anna Dizon was a singer in the 90’s who released a few albums and held a few concerts during her time. One of her albums has received a Gold award for successfully selling a certain number of CDs and cassettes. Rumor has it (and we’re not confirming it), that she actually bought many copies of her album that’s why achieved Gold status.
Anna Dizon is also an entrepreneur and owns a world-class resort in Oriental Mindoro named Villa Anna Paradise Resort and Farm. She is also into manpower sourcing sending talents to Japan and sending nurses and other medical practitioners to the UK and other countries.
Anna Dizon was also rumored to have been involved in a showbiz incident of husband-/boyfriend-stealing. Singer Mystica claimed that Anna Dizon stole the former’s boyfriend and married him.
How did “Anna Dizon is Anna Dizon” become a staple in gay lingo?
There are quite a few theories that explain this phenomenon. One of them is that Anna Dizon herself said the statement in an interview with a weekend afternoon showbiz talk show. The theory explains that when Anna was asked why she scheduled her wedding on the same date as that of Lorna Tolentino’s, and if she was not worried that she would not get any of the limelight, she replied “Because Anna Dizon is Anna Dizon.”
Another theory explains that TV Host John Lapuz coined the whole phrase himself. Since Anna Dizon was joining the bandwagon of popular local divas, she deserved to have a title of her own. Like Regine Velasquez is known as Asia’s Songbird, or Zsazsa Padilla as the Divine Diva, or Lani Misalucha as Asia’s Nightingale, Anna Dizon was… well, Anna Dizon is Anna Dizon!
So those my friends are just two of the theories behind the origin of the statement “Anna Dizon is Anna Dizon.”
If you know of any other theory, please do share it with us!
