Bakla Follows Jansport on the Way to Individuality

I am fascinated with bags.  Whenever I get the chance, I buy bags that strike my interest.  No. I’m not talking about the highly expensive luxury brands that cost more than my net worth. Whenever I buy bags,  I make sure that they are good investments.  My primary consideration is compartments.  Next are price and style.

When I was in college, I was so envious of people who owned Jansport.  It was trendy and functional, and yes, it was some sort of a status symbol.  I used to be concerned about status that I made sure I had a Jansport backpack. But I didn’t get to own one and bring it to school since my very measly allowance couldn’t be stretched further.

So what I did was to buy a cheapo backpack and painted it myself.  It may not be Jansport, but at least it was stylish and had enough compartments to accommodate all of these:

I’m a big fan of my personal art which is mostly painting abstract designs on my old stuff to make them look new.

We all know that Jansport is a successful international brand and a cultural phenomenon.  After 40 years in the business, it is expected that this brand will not stop at anything to improve further.  And with their recent releases, this has been proven true. Jansport continues to celebrate its hippie heritage with its Graphic Remix series which is inspired by the Indie community — this generation’s most definitive counterculture.

Jansport’s Graphic Remix series exemplifies the Indie community’s passion for creativity, originality and individuality through the quirky and anti-conformist designs like graffiti, doodles, pop art and calligraphy. The line is designed by the country’s best graphic designers. Here are some samples:

I hope my fave bag store, Memo, creates a line of bags with this concept, luxury with a dash of individuality…
