Bakla Ako, May Reklamo?

Pinoypoets, in partnership with Anvil Publishing and Powerbooks, presents “Desire and Doom in Philippine Gay Poetry,” a lecture by gay rights activist and poet Danton Remoto.

This, to be held on April 25, 2009, 2PM at Powerbooks Megamall, is free and open to the public. This event is the second of a series of lectures in celebration of Pinoypoets’ fifth anniversary.

This Saturday, November 15, all eyes down south are on Dumaguete as Hari ng Negros presents:

“Legends of Sugarlandia – The Hari ng Negros Body Paint and Tribal Fashion Show” co presented by Fashion TV.

This promises to be another hot and sizzling event so if you’re in Dumaguete City, somewhere near Dumaguete City, or can fly to Dumaguete City this Saturday, go now and see the Legends of Sugarlandia!

Party!  The LGBT Bloggers Party for Pride that we’ve all been waiting for is finally here! Previously, I posted this invite online:

We are inviting all Filipino Gay and Lesbian Bloggers to take part in this year’s Pride March which will take place sometime in December!  Yes, we know it may still be too early, but we’re inviting you all to join us as we celebrate Pride! The organizers of this year’s Pride March — Task Force Pride and Society of Transsexual Women of the Philippines (STRAP) — are inviting us all to form a Bloggers Contingent for this year’s march.

There is no definite date yet, but we will post updates here soon.

Also, we can have an LGBT Bloggers Night slash meet-up sometime in October or November (I will work on getting sponsors for the venue and possibly food) for us to get to know each other more, unite our ranks, fight for our rights, and of course… party!

The world wide web has heard our voices online, why not let the rest of the offline world hear us too?

This party is open to all LGBT bloggers (whatever your blog content may be), who are willing to join us all in the much-awaited Manila Pride March 2008! During this party, aside from having fun , we will also be consolidating our ranks as we prepare for the LGBT Bloggers Contingent at the Pride March on December 6, 2008.

Bloggers who are not gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender (aka straight), but who support the gay community and are willing to join our contingent at the Pride March, and show their support, are also welcome to join us!

Tumba-lata, piko-flag, piko-tae, chinese garter, tubig-tubiganay, takyan and shatong. These games were the games I grew up playing.  They may sound a little familiar to some of you because they are familiar to you, only thing is, these games are named in my local Cebuanong Davao language.  In Tagalog, they’re called Tumbang Preso, Piko, Another version of piko, Chinese garter, patintero, sipa and shato, respectively.

These were the games I used to play as a kid and these games were the coolest things in the world for the children of my generation. I rarely see kids nowadays playing these games, thanks (or no thanks) to the wonderful world of PSPs, Nintendos, Playstations, and Online RPGs. I still think that the physical outdoor games I used to play as a kid are the best games for kids. Oh, those were the days.

Recently though, I was able to revisit my childhood by playing these games at Bonifacio High Street. Thanks to Havaianas and their Havaianas Playback, I was able to go back to my childhood. Havaianas Playback was a way of giving old-school, street gamers like myself, the chance to play the games that made us the champs and then pass the torch to the next generation.

While playing, I suddenly remembered how competitive I was (still am)! I made sure that I won and received the perfect points in every game I played.

I played Chinese Garter first and secured the perfect score by doing a cartwheel on the last level!
