Havaianas Bags: The New Fashion Must-Havs

November 16th, 2009

lifted from MyGandaAko.com (just because I can lift).

Gone are the days when you only mean the rubber flip-flops whenever you say “Havs” because Havaianas has just unveiled their newest line: bags!  Genetics has gone beyond science and has found its way into fashion. Havaianas, the world’s best rubber flip-flops, now shares its DNA to the newest addition to their family.

With the same sense of functional style, these new fashion statements from Havaianas showcase the basic features that define the chic brand. Aside from using the same rainbow of colors as the flip-flops’ palette, the different bag styles are subtly ingrained with distinct Havaianas elements: the rice pattern on the soles and the Greek pattern on the straps are integrated into different details of all the bag styles. Reinforcing the bag’s durability are familiar rubber elements that provide sturdy yet stylish bases, straps and locks. The round rubber buttons used to keep the flip-flops’ soles and straps together can also be found detailing the bags, locking-in the Havaianas DNA.

I got the chance to see these bags on the racks and on the ramp at the recently-concluded

Guys With iPhones!

May 21st, 2009

I love guys. I would love to own an iPhone.  I would love to love and own a “Guy with iPhone”!

What the heck is that exactly?  Well, if you haven’t heard from the GAYpevine yet, Guys With iPhones is back online after they were “booted” out of Tumblr.  It had a big following in and out of Tumblr prior to it moving to a new server/host.  And now we’re happier as we can be!

What exactly is Guys With iPhones?  Well check this picture out:

That’s just one photo.  And that is one of the very few which are not NSFW – one of the safer ones. The others are really mind-blowing and some you would actually want to blow! The site is a collection of photos of Guys who have iPhones. The guys are in various states of undress and sometimes make you feel like you’re under duress!

And since I made a vow to my prude self not to post nudies on this blog, here’s a screenshot of one of the “safer” pages:

gwip

The photos are either found online or in most cases, sent in by the guys themselves!

Now I wanna get an iPhone.  I wanna get a guy with an iPhone!

Bakla Goes Back to Childhood with Havaianas PlayBack

November 3rd, 2008

Tumba-lata, piko-flag, piko-tae, chinese garter, tubig-tubiganay, takyan and shatong. These games were the games I grew up playing.  They may sound a little familiar to some of you because they are familiar to you, only thing is, these games are named in my local Cebuanong Davao language.  In Tagalog, they’re called Tumbang Preso, Piko, Another version of piko, Chinese garter, patintero, sipa and shato, respectively.

These were the games I used to play as a kid and these games were the coolest things in the world for the children of my generation. I rarely see kids nowadays playing these games, thanks (or no thanks) to the wonderful world of PSPs, Nintendos, Playstations, and Online RPGs. I still think that the physical outdoor games I used to play as a kid are the best games for kids. Oh, those were the days.

Recently though, I was able to revisit my childhood by playing these games at Bonifacio High Street. Thanks to Havaianas and their Havaianas Playback, I was able to go back to my childhood. Havaianas Playback was a way of giving old-school, street gamers like myself, the chance to play the games that made us the champs and then pass the torch to the next generation.

While playing, I suddenly remembered how competitive I was (still am)! I made sure that I won and received the perfect points in every game I played.

I played Chinese Garter first and secured the perfect score by doing a cartwheel on the last level!

Then off I went to try my luck at Piko. The piko I grew up with had several versions and they are not as easy as the one I have played here in Manila in my younger years.  The Havaianas Piko was a » Read more: Bakla Goes Back to Childhood with Havaianas PlayBack

The Thank You Girls Premieres in Davao TODAY!

September 8th, 2008

In case you haven’t noticed yet,  I have been posting a lot about “The Thank You Girls!” lately, and this is all because I love it so much that I can define darkness now (after watching the premiere night two weeks ago). No, I am not paid to blog about the film, nor am I getting anything in return for posting about it.  I just love the film so much that I would want everyone in the world to watch it.  Besides,  this film was shot in Davao, my hometown, and the cast and director are my kababayans!

The Thank You Girls!  will have its premiere night in Davao City tonight, September 8, 2008 at Gaisano Mall of Davao.  Tickets are pegged at P100.00 only!  So to all our friends in Davao, go na and maki-”Char Lang!”

Regular screening of The Thank You Girls! in Davao will be from September 10 (my birthday!) to September 16 at Gaisano Mall of Davao.

Friends from Metro Manila will have the chance to catch this film beginning September 23 (Advance Screening) at Robinsons Galleria IndieSine.  Regular run in Metro Manila will be on September 24 to September 30.

Oh and yeah, did I mention that The Thank You Girls! will be screened at the Vancouver International Film Festival on September 25 to October 10? Details about the Dragons and Tigers Competition for emerging Asian directors are on Bebs Gohetia’s blog.
