Project Runway Philippines Episode 4 Recap

August 22nd, 2008

This, by far, is the most drama-laden episode of this Philippine franchise of the hit reality TV competition Project Runway! Throughout the week on ETC, clues were dropped in the trailer that showed a word war between Eli and Veejay, and Project Runway Philippines mentor Jojie Lloren to call both of their (Eli’s and veejay’s) attention. Is it as controversial as the trailer promises to be?  We’ll see.

The show started with a recap of the previous episode where Lord Maturan was eliminated.

At the Amorsolo Mansion, some of the designers were discussing the issue of “The Sando”, referring to the black tank top which Veejay and Bo used as an “accessory” in their garment in the last episode.  Pocket interviews of the designers showed that it was Eli Gonzakes who first noticed that the gown that Veejay Floresca and Bo Parcon created in the last episode had a tank top.  More pocket interviews revealed that other designers were also questioning the use of the cPage copy protected against web site content infringement by Copyscapeontroversial “sando”. Bo defended himseld by saying that he and Veejay mixed glamour and couture by using their styling to reflect the hip-hop theme.Others called it a technical foul. Eli, while talking to the other designers in one of the rooms said:

It is a unanimous decision that we have to disqualify those bitches. Those scheming bitches.

Back at the School of Fashion and the Arts (SoFA), host Teresa Herrera announced that the designers were going on a fun-filled and much-deserved rest and relaxation under the sun to relieve them of the stress of the show.  They were sent back to their residence to pack their clothes and everyone were in their fun and excited moods.

The designers arrived at the TRIbeca Private Residence (in Sucat, Muntinlupa) all ready to have fun, swim and take some much-needed relaxation.  At the breakfast table, verbal chaos started with Eli and Veejay picking on each other.  Eli picked on what Veejay was wearing What started out as an exchange of harsh words against each other’s physical attributes became a word fight on their private lives.  Then it led to the controversial issue of “The Sando” in Veejay’s garment. Here are some of the statements that were uttered during breakfast:

I don’t speak horse — Eli Gonzales
Sino ba naman ang tao na hindi magagalit kung sabihan ka ng anu-anong names cheater, horse, butiki! — Veejay Floresca
Why would I be fired? I’m in demand! — Aries Lagat

Veejay: Natatawa na lang ako sa’yo!
Eli: Mas natatawa ako sa’yo.  You look like the staff here! Why did you choose that shirt? Bad fashion sense?
Veejay: And lumalabas na… You are just insecure of me.  Insecure ka lang. That’s it.

The conversation led to the discussion about past challenges where other designers used leggings as part of their styling. Veejay defended himself saying that » Read more: Project Runway Philippines Episode 4 Recap

That Humongous Levi’s Ad on a Building!

August 21st, 2008

Levis Building 3

I don’t know when this building was “wrapped” and “unbuttoned”, but as I was on my way to Quezon City last week, I was surprised with the gigantic man standing along EDSA.  Apparently, it’s the Levi’s 501 Live Unbuttoned Ad.

It is the largest outdoor advertising (as of today. god knows how many will follow suit) in the Philippines. According to press releases1, the ad:

covers three out of four panels of exterior glass walls of the PET Plans Tower Building in Makati and spans a whopping total area of 47,000 square feet- approximately the same size as 10 NBA basketball courts or 20 standard-sized billboards!

Now that is indeed huge! I took some photos but failed to get a lot so I took more on my return and got a pretty interesting “shot” of another ad which, to me, was quite odd and very interesting (since it had a shirtless, half-naked Will Devaughn on it!)

More photos after the jump.

Belo Touches My Skin, and My Heart Too

August 20th, 2008

“Only Belo touches my skin,” so goes their tagline.  Apparently, they don’t only touch your skin and other physical attributes, they also touch your heart.  Mushy, you might say, but read on and you’ll find out what I’m talking about.

What comes to mind when you hear the name Belo?  Surgery, right? Prior to the long weekend, I used to think of the same thing.  Belo is surgery.  Even if I knew that Belo had other services aside from liposuction and breast augmentation, I still could not avoid equating the name Belo with surgery. Until the past weekend.

Hayden and Ernie

I, along with other bloggers, got the chance to meet Dra. Vicki Belo and Dr. Hayden Kho of the Belo Medical Group. When I received the invite through email for a Belo Open House for Bloggers, I did not think twice and immediately replied in the affirmative.  This is Belo we are talking about.  Of course, there’s that wishful thinking that I would finally meet the H-O-T Dr. Hayden Kho Jr.  Little did I know that this wish was going to be granted on that fateful weekend. And I got more than just a meet-up with Doc Hayden!

I need to be Belo-fied

During the event, Hayden discussed what the Belo Medical Group was about through a presentation titled Beauty and the Best. Through this presentation, I found out that I actually knew too little about Belo and what they do. Hayden gave a quick rundown of all their surgical services (Belo Surgical Solutions) as well as » Read more: Belo Touches My Skin, and My Heart Too
