Bakla’s Affair with the Philippine Blog Awards 2008

The Philippine Blog Awards 2008 gave recognition to the best and the brightest blogs in the Philippine Blogosphere and I am happy to say that I took part in it. When I was asked to host, I was initially hesitant since I knew my hosting skills were already kinda rusty.  I eventually gave in and agreed to be one of the hosts for this year’s awards.

Not many people know about this, but I was also supposed to host last year’s awards night.  But no thanks to some controversy and miscommunication, I did not get that chance.  (I was also out of town then, enjoying the beauty of Dumaguete and Antulang – which I will also be visiting come November, thanks to Cebu Pacific’s Zero fare promo).

So on September 21, 2008, I had to brush up on my now long-forgotten hosting skills and headed to One Esplanade. Together with Kring of FunnySexy, Tiffany of the Manila Foodistas, and Marcelle (aka Kuya Germs) of Mistervader, I gladly hosted the Philippine Blog Awards 2008.

When the lights hit my eye, everything became a blur and I don’t have any memory of the event anymore! Talk about ebing lightstruck! Here’s a photoset (photos courtesy of Carlo and Ed).

All I remember now was that I had fun and some of the blogs I was rooting for won in their respective categories!  Congratulations to Gibbs, Coy, Benj, Rick,  and all the other winners (List of Philippine Blog Awards Winners after the jump)!

I’m also happy that even if this blog didn’t win in the Best Personal Blog category, I was among great bloggers like Fritz, Helga, Kring, Benj (who won that category), Bikoy, Mike Villar, and Misterhubs, among others.Just getting nominated with this bunch is an honor in itself!  Imagine, from the more than 90 blogs that qualified, we were among the finalists!  Good job naman diyan!

I had a small taste of victory too, » Read more: Bakla’s Affair with the Philippine Blog Awards 2008

Philippine Blog Awards 2007

February 26th, 2007

Are you a Filipino with a blog worth noticing? Think you got what it takes to be called one of the Philippines’ best bloggers?

Submit your blog now!

Nominate your blog for the Special Awards!

The awarding is open to all Filipino bloggers who have full ownership of their blogs. This implies that blogs belonging to blog networks or corporate blogs cannot be included because of ownership rights. The awards therefore pay homage to “grassroots bloggers” who have built up their blogs from their own efforts.

Check out the Philippine Blog Awards home for more information :)

Bakla Ako, May Reklamo?

February 17th, 2007

Mabuhay!

Welcome to the All-New Bakla Ako, May Reklamo (BAMR) blog. I deleted http://bakla.myjournal.ph due to some readers who were hell-bent on ruining my life by hurting my family. But I am way over that. So let’s usher in the all-new BAMR!

The old bakla was a mere mirror of my blogs in LiveJournal and Multiply. So this time around, BAMR will be different. You will be seeing content here that you won’t see on my LJ and Multiply. The running theme for this blog will be Life as a Homosexual. Categories will include, but not limited to, the following:

  1. Bakla-rawan: A photoblog of the sights and sounds, the flora and fauna, the hustle and bustle, the hot men and the not of busy Metro Manila using a camera phone (SE K750i). Photos will be taken without looking at the viewfinder, or in this case – the phone screen. Paparazzi-type and out-of-focus and unedited photos. Hmmmm…
  2. Political Bakla: A political commentary by a gay urbanite.
  3. I’m Coming Out: A collection of coming out stories from different gay men in the Philippines. This would require more effort as I will need to collect stories from people who are willing to share a part of their lives to the www. This blog aims to help gay men who are still in the closet but find it very difficult to come out. Something sort of a support blog.
  4. Paano Ba Maging Bakla: Tips and tricks on being gay, from a gay urbanite and fashion victim’s point of view.
  5. Bakla, Bili Na: Where to find the best bargains for the everyday gay man.
  6. Baklalandia: Reviews , commentaries and Recaps of a gay man’s favorite TV shows, recent movies, food, bars, restaurants, spas, salons, etc.
  7. Baklinks: Links to stories and news Items related to the gay life.
  8. Lakbay Bakla: Travel blog of the Bakla

I have more categories in mind but I will update soon. Please do feel free to email me your contributions, suggestions, reactions : ajkenji@gmail.com.

Love,
Bakla
