You read that right! Boyzone is the first ever boyband to have a gay couple in their video. (But this is not the first video in history to show a homosexual couple kissing).
One of its members, Stephen Gately (who cam out in 1999) is paired with a male actor while the other members are paired with females. in their latest video for the single “Better”.
The Boyzone boys (oh well, they’re grown men now) originally wanted their own partners to appear opposite them in the video but none of the other halves agreed. They eventually decided to just have actors play opposite each member. It is interesting to see that such openness and hopefully acceptance, is being displayed in a video of a group who once rocked (and still do) people’s socks off. The decision to put a gay couple in the video was the whole band’s and the other members pushed Gately and said that he had to do this and that it would be fantastic.

And indeed it is! The video is quite heartwarming and the song actually made me cry a tear or two. Sob. Sob.

It’s all over the Internet now! Clay Aiken is rumored to have come out as gay (finally!) via People Magazine’s latest issue set for release in the United States on Wednesday (US Time).
In the (not-yet-confirmed-to-be-true-and-might-be-a-hoax) cover of the upcoming issue of People, the American Idol alumnus and his newborn son Parker Foster Aiken are seen on the cover with a banner story of Aiken saying: “Yes, I’m gay.”
If this were true, then we only have this to say: Yes, we know. We always have.
Clay Aiken has long been rumored to be gay but he has remained mum about his sexuality. Rumors of him soliciting gay sex online have also been around for a while now.
So is Clay Aiken gay and has he finally come out of the closet? We’ll find out in a few hours!

Many of you may already be familiar with Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” song. Some of you may have liked it, some of you despised it.
But what if a male version was released? Well, what do you know, I found one! I didn’t really find it, but the one who made it sent me a birthday message via my Multiply page! I got the link from Robi (thanks for the greetings, dude, pare chong!) whom I had the chance to work with and hang-out with during shows and concerts sometime in 2003 to 2004. I used to see him and the AKAFellas when I was still working as Road Manager of Nyoy Volante and Mannos (I had the biggest crush on their former member Red Sandico).
Anyway, Robi created “I Kissed A Boy” for the newly reinvented 99.5 RT as the first of many parodies that they will be making for the station. The song is a spoof of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl”.
I find the song extremely funny and made me roll on the floor after listening to it for the first time. It may be offensive for some people, but given that this is a parody, we should all take it as it is.
Listen to the song here: I Kissed A Boy: 99.5 RT Original (NOT FOR CHILDREN UNDER 30!)

Thanks to Red Horse Beer, I was able to watch the much-awaited reunion concert of the Eraserheads!
The concert may have been cut short (because Ely Buendia was rushed to the hospital during the 20-minute break), but I still enjoyed it.  It was so much fun to watch the boys who sang theme songs to my erstwhile love lives (as if there were any), theme songs which gave me hope, and theme songs which opened up my eyes to the realities of this world. The weekend that has just passed was a big event for many gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgenders as the whole world commemorated the anniversary of the Stonewall Riots in New York City on June 28 1969.
Here in the Philippines, Gay Pride Parties were organized in Malate and Makati (some said that street parties and festivities were not allowed in the city of Manila).
Pride festivities were also held at the University of the Philippines in Diliman on June 27. That was followed by an LGBT Forum and a cultural night. Photos from the forum from our transgender friend Pau Fontanos here.
We all know that gay men, Filipino gay men to be more specific and nationalistic, are very talented individuals  in whatever field they are and wherever they are. Proof of that is our local gay pride festivities and the participation of our gay (and lesbian, bisexual, transgender) friends who are far away from the Philippines. We give kudos to these men and women for their courage, passion, and pride in bearing the Filipino gay flag all over the world!
Danton Remoto also has some nice words and a few stories to share about Pink Power here.
In Toronto, Canada, Filipino members of the gay community represented the country in colorful and beautiful ternos. Check out the photos at Adobo Republic!
In the United States, the Filipino contingent wowed audiences with their exceptional performance during the march in Chicago, Illinois. It was the first time in the history of Chicago’s Gay Pride Festivities that there was a separate Filipino contingent. The Filipino contingent made their first mark a glamorous one in the 39-year history of Chicago’s Gay Pride by winning the Best Organization Float award! (Read more about it and view photos on Ted Regencia Reports).
Curious as to what the gay Pinoys did during the festivities? Watch this video by Ted Regencia:

An opera based on Annie Proulx’s short story about two men and their 20-year long love story, Brokeback Mountain, will have its Opera version soon, courtesy of the New York City Opera. The movie of the same name won three Oscar awards in 2005.
American composer Charles Wuorinen, who has always wanted to create an opera based on the story, was recently commissioned to write an opera based on the short story. The Opera is set to premiere in 2013.

The long wait is over, dadapo na ang Mariposa!

Sa Pagdapo ng Mariposa is yet another gay-themed film that will start its run at Robinsons IndieSine tomorrow, May 21. This indie film, produced by Hubo Productions, Inc. was originally scheduled to be shown on the week of April but was moved to this week because the producers and the director wanted to make sure that the film was free from minor technical dirt.

Sa Pagdapo ng Mariposa stars Marcus Madrigal and Josh Deocareza. The film has been in the limelight recently because its poster (shown above) was rated “X”. The film is about a man’s struggle of finding himself and discovering love, and his inability and lack of knowledge on how to deal with it. The film is admittedly gay-themed but it is not your typical gay film.
