Dumbledore is Gay!

October 21st, 2007

Yes, you read that right. The revered Hogwarts headmaster, Albus Dumbledore, has been outed recently by the Harry Potter series author, JK Rowling.

Some people have speculated about Dumbledore’s sexuality long before the last book was released.  Some have “confirmed” their beliefs after seeing Dumbledore perform that clap-above-the-head routine in the film version of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Many of us have wondered and had doubts about the sexuality of this esteemed headmaster and now we hear the truth straight from the creator’s mouth. Rowling outed Dumbledore last October 19, Friday, at Carnegie Hall where she promoted the last edition of the series: “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.”

If you haven’t read the seventh book yet, don’t fret as this revelation of Dumbledore’s sexuality couldn’t be found in the book. Well, if you’re keen enough to dissect his sexuality (or if that interests you at all), then you would have already known that Dumbledore is gay. Ain’t nothing wrong with that too.

The Associated Press Reports:

After reading briefly from the final book, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” she took questions from audience members.

She was asked by one young fan whether Dumbledore finds “true love.”

“Dumbledore is gay,” the author responded to gasps and applause.

“Falling in love can blind us to an extent,” Rowling said of Dumbledore’s feelings, adding that Dumbledore was “horribly, terribly let down.”

If you haven’t read the Deathly Hallows yet and don’t want any spoilers, don’t click on the news link below to read the full story of Dumbledore’s outing.

GRΣΣK: Coming Out and Fraternities

September 17th, 2007

Bakla watches pretty much anything that’s on TV. Typical TV freak and/or couch potato – if you wanna tag him that.

Since his life is quite sordid and he’s living a very sorry life, he is inclined to watch comedies. Well, he prefers comedy, but just give him a TV set (with or without cable) and he’ll be fine. In the past few weeks, he caught himself watching a relatively new (and still quite unheard-of here in the Philippines) TV show – GRΣΣK.

College, fraternities, friendship and a whole lot of laughter is what GRΣΣK is all about. It has already finished it’s first season (of 10 episodes) and is due to release its second season in 2008.

From Wikipedia:

GRΣΣK (or Greek) is a teen drama television series that runs on the ABC Family network. The show follows the story of Rusty, a college freshman attending the fictional Cyprus-Rhodes University, who longs to leave behind his reputation as a high school geek by joining a fraternity, while sister Casey hopes for little interference with her enjoyment of Greek life. Most of the characters belong to either the fictional fraternities Kappa Tau Gamma (ΚΤΓ) and Omega Chi Delta (ΩΧΔ), or the fictional sorority Zeta Beta Zeta (ΖΒΖ).

This show has received fantastic reviews. And these are well-deserved! Watching even just an episode will keep you laughing and wanting for more!

And one thing that’s great about this show is that they have the (we hate to say it, but) token gay character: Calvin, an African-American closeted homosexual lives the “Greek” life at the fictitious Cyprus-Rhodes University.

Ambisexual

August 30th, 2007

In this day and age, any term can be coined to refer to just about anything.  Sexual orientation or preference is one of those things.  You have gay, fag, bisexual, homo, homosexual, lesbian, dyke, and many other terms. Every now and then, a new term comes out of nowhere and quickly lodges itself onto the slang dictionaries.

An example would be the term trisexual. A trisexual (as the term is used by some people) is someone who tries anything once. Or try anything all the time.  This makes us think that the term should be named TRYSEXUAL instead of trisexual (which connotes the number 3, ergo has sex with three different genders.  But that is an altogether different discussion.

AMBISEXUAL! This is not the first time that we’ve heard the term and looking at it, we would concur that its prefix — ambi would mean good with both (say, ambidextrous). [start of edit after posting].Ambisexual is actually a real word which can be found in most dictionaries – mostly meaning bisexual:

ADJECTIVE:   1. Having a sexual orientation to persons of either sex; bisexual.
                      2. Suited to either sex; unisex:

However, over the years and thanks to language evolution and media, the term is now being used to refer to those who have ambiguous sexual orientations. Ah, there it is:

A person with sexually ambiguous characteristics that don’t define their gender. Guys who look like girls, girls who look like guys, and even someone with a name that can be used by both sexes.

Online news sources now also use the term to mean ambiguity instead of bisexuality. Take this for example:

His camp performances have sent gay pulses racing, but he refuses to be drawn, which led to speculation that he may be gay or bisexual, leading some commentators to coin descriptive phrases like ‘ambisexual’ …

[end of edit after posting]
So that’s what it is.  If you look at the prefix closely, it can also come from the Cebuano term “ambot” which means “I don’t know.” Well, we just made that connection up so there really is no truth in claiming that ambisexual was coined by Filipinos.

Do we know of any ambisexuals? » Read more: Ambisexual

Single fathers, married fathers, gay married fathers, single gay fathers, gay couple fathers, single mothers — whoever you are and wherever you may be,

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

The image above comes from GQ’s June issue fashion spread titled “a GQ Guide to Being a 21st Centruy Dad.” This photo, which shows a real-life gay couple and their son, appeared without any explanation — just showing the world how gay men can be dads in this modern world.

This is good stuff. In GQ’s latest issue, they’ve done a spread called “a GQ Guide to Being a 21st Century Dad”, a sort of stylish guide to parenting for the modern man.

Oh, I can’t wait to be a dad… Err… I need a partner first.

Gay Filipino Actors?

June 13th, 2007

A list of Filipino actors and celebrities rumored to be gay. Only one of them has come out and is confirmed to be one of us. As for the others on the list, we do not vouch for the veracity of the claims of this video, but we do agree to some of the suspects here… We are not saying that they are gay, this video does. Some of these men are actually already married and have kids.  Then again, one can’t really tell.  Who else do you think should be on the list?

Enjoy.

Here’s the list of actors featured in this video (in order of appearance): » Read more: Gay Filipino Actors?
