The full trailer of the upcoming film “In My Life” starring Vilma Santos-Recto, Luis Manzano and John Lloyd Cruz was launched on ABS-CBN and its affiliate stations. And boy was I amazed and amused.
This is something that I’m definitely looking forward to watching. Aside from the kissing scene that Luis and John Lloyd did in the film, the story and Ate Vi’s acting seem to draw me into this film.
So here’s the full trailer.
“In My Life” is showing in Philippine theaters on September 16, 2009.
Ang Ladlad, the national organization of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender Filipinos filed a petition to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) for accreditation to run as Party-list in the 2010 national elections last August 17.
Ang Ladlad was denied by the COMELEC in the past elections for allegedly not having enough representation all over the country to qualify as a marginalized sector of society. Let’s hope the COMELEC becomes wiser this time.
Ang Ladlad’s Platforms: 1. Support the Anti-Discrimination Bill that gives LGBT Filipinos equal opportunities in employment and equal treatment in schools, hospitals, restaurants, hotels, entertainment centers, and government offices. 2. Re-filing of the bill to repeal the Anti-Vagrancy Law that some unscrupulous policemen use to extort bribes from gay men without ID cards; 3. Setting up of micro-finance and livelihood projects for poor and handicapped LGBT Filipinos; 4. Setting up of centers for Golden Gays, or old and abandoned LGBTs, as well as young ones driven out of their homes. The centers will also offer legal aid and counseling, as well as information about LGBT issues, HIV-AIDS, and reproductive health. These centers will be set up initially in the key cities/metropolitan areas of the Philippines — Baguio, National Capital Region, Cebu and Davao.
The platforms of Ang Ladlad are like laser beams — clear and focused only in one direction. Ang Ladlad aims to restore the pride and dignity of LGBT Filipinos as well as give lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgenders a chance to lead kinder and gentler lives.
Ang Ladlad is not fighting for special rights but equal rights for lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders in the Philippines. Let us end discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity.
The only way to shape history is to make it. Be part of history.
A Filipino "porn star" from Canada is at risk of getting deported back to the Philippines. Jammy Reyes, a 24-year old prostitute moved to Canada with his aunt and sister when he was just 11 years old has never applied to become a Canadian citizen, making his stay in the country illegal.
Reyes is quite a famous entity in the popular adult video-sharing website Xtube. As of this writing, Reyes, whose username on the site is badboijer, has 1,724 subscribers and 510,600 video views. His life story is all about drugs, crime and life on the streets.
At 16, he left his family home, dropped out of high school and became a prostitute. Then the drugs came in: ecstasy, crack cocaine and crystal meth. In order to feed his addiction, he started stealing credit cards from clients and threatening his aunt – who eventually put a restraining order against him. Reyes spent more than a year in jail and six months in rehab.
He is almost finished with his two-year probation. Interestingly, his life is also currently being featured, alongside 99 other male prostitutes from three different countries, in a Winnipeg art exhibit called 100 Stories About My Grandmother. The show is all about male prostitutes telling stories about their grandmothers – to show that people who work in the sex trade are just like everyone else. They, too, have families and lives beyond selling their meat.
The deportation sentence for Reyes will be released anytime soon and if he is indeed found unworthy of staying in Canada, he will be escorted back to the Philippines – a country he has not seen for years and a country he no longer considers home – within a week.

A few weeks ago, we gave you the second edition of the Kaninong Bakat Yan? – KaBaYan (Guess That Bulge) contest. Our site went down for about three days so we decided to extend the deadline of submission of entries to August 8th.
What an overwhelming response that was! Thank you all for the support and thanks to all those who joined. A total of about 50 people sent in their answers – 33 of which were correct.
Kaninong Bakat Yan?
Of course we all know the answer: MARC NELSON!
And the winner is (we used randomizer.org to determine the winner):
I chanced upon this article on Negros Chronicle written by a priest named Father Gammy Tulabing (JCD, VG) titled Homosexuality is Curable. Before I go on and react to his article, may I just say that coming from a Filipino priest, the article is actually quite offensive for me. I find it deeply insulting. Here’s why:
Father Tulabing begins his article with a definition of homosexuality:
"Homosexuality is sexual orientation to the same sex. It is sexual attraction towards the person of the same sex. It is either attraction of man to another man or attraction of woman to another woman called lesbianism. So homosexuality is synonymous to gay, a word which may be applied to a man homosexual or to a woman lesbian."
He then says that he agrees with the idea of homosexuality being caused by genetic, hormonal, and environmental influences. He mentions that homosexuality may be caused by one or a combination of these factors. With this statement as part of his opener, one would think that this is an open-minded article about homosexuality. However, the title of his article pretty much sums up his confused view on it.
