Piolo Pascual for Bench (Manila Screens Today, Too!)

July 22nd, 2009

Piolo Pascual semi naked

Ah! Papa Piolo.  Who doesn’t love him? Some of his billboards along EDSA have been taken down recently, and I think it is for good reason.  People just get distracted too much! (I also get distracted by that Folded & Hung billboard with British Pinoy model Justin Hills).

But have you seen the latest oh-so-hot TV commercials for Bench starring Papa P?

Check out the videos below where Piolo is decently naked. And no, these are not sex scandals!

No Longer a Virgin: My First Pride March

December 12th, 2008

I am no longer a virgin.

Last weekend, I happily gave up my virginity and marched through the streets of Manila!  Yes, I am no longer a Pride March virgin.  And yes, I used to be.

Believe it or not, the 2008 Manila Pride March was the first for me.  I came out in 2005, but I did not really get the chance to join any Pride March at all.  Either I did not have the time to join or I did not want to join.

Manila Pride March - Baklaako dot com 036

I did not want to join. I was scared of having my face plastered all over the news.  I was scared of what might come my way after the march.  I was scared that my friends of old would see me and judge me.

I did not have the time (or deliberately planned out-of-town trips to coincide with the Pride March schedule). I did not want to march under the sweltering heat of the sun.  I did not want my B Club shoes (Yes, chipangga ito!) to get all dirty and worn out.  I did not want to have sweat as an accessory.

I would sleep all afternoon till night and then wake up at about 1am then head to Malate. Bed.  That was Manila Pride for me.

Until last weekend.

Months before the 2008 Manila Pride March, I already decided that I would join and that nothing was gonna stop me from joining!  And so began my journey towards my Pride March devirginization.  Together with the Rainbow Bloggers Philippines, I planned the LGBT Bloggers Night at Red Box (thanks again, Red Box!).  And because there was an LGBT bloggers contingent at this year’s march, I knew that I had a place!

Bakla Goes Back to Childhood with Havaianas PlayBack

November 3rd, 2008

Tumba-lata, piko-flag, piko-tae, chinese garter, tubig-tubiganay, takyan and shatong. These games were the games I grew up playing.  They may sound a little familiar to some of you because they are familiar to you, only thing is, these games are named in my local Cebuanong Davao language.  In Tagalog, they’re called Tumbang Preso, Piko, Another version of piko, Chinese garter, patintero, sipa and shato, respectively.

These were the games I used to play as a kid and these games were the coolest things in the world for the children of my generation. I rarely see kids nowadays playing these games, thanks (or no thanks) to the wonderful world of PSPs, Nintendos, Playstations, and Online RPGs. I still think that the physical outdoor games I used to play as a kid are the best games for kids. Oh, those were the days.

Recently though, I was able to revisit my childhood by playing these games at Bonifacio High Street. Thanks to Havaianas and their Havaianas Playback, I was able to go back to my childhood. Havaianas Playback was a way of giving old-school, street gamers like myself, the chance to play the games that made us the champs and then pass the torch to the next generation.

While playing, I suddenly remembered how competitive I was (still am)! I made sure that I won and received the perfect points in every game I played.

I played Chinese Garter first and secured the perfect score by doing a cartwheel on the last level!

Then off I went to try my luck at Piko. The piko I grew up with had several versions and they are not as easy as the one I have played here in Manila in my younger years.  The Havaianas Piko was a » Read more: Bakla Goes Back to Childhood with Havaianas PlayBack

Rainbow Bloggers Philippines!

October 3rd, 2008

There are many kinds of bloggers. There are many kinds of gay bloggers. And there are many kinds of Filipino gay blogs and bloggers from all over the Philippines and the rest of the world! But how do you keep track of all of them? How do you see them?

The answer to this question is Rainbow Bloggers Philippines!  Rainbow Bloggers Philippines is a group of Filipino gay bloggers from all over the world.

Rainbow Bloggers Philippines

Rainbow Bloggers Philippines

I’m personally very happy and proud to be part of this group.  I’m much happier because it sort of is a dream-come-true moment for me.  In April 2007, I wished that there was a venue for gay bloggers in the Philippines to form a community of our own, or even just a Gay Bloggers Summit. Thanks to the wonderful people who started Rainbow Blogs Philippines, that dream has come true for me!

The blog is now bustling with color and flair as gay bloggers have already started posting and contributing their stories and entries to the blog.
